Musical–rhythmic and harmonic Intelligence

In this post we will explain about the Musical-rhythmic and harmonic intelligence. Or, in general, Musical Intelligence.


 This intelligence deals with music, tones, sounds and rhytms. Mainly people with sensibility for this intellingence are able to sing, compose music and play musical instrumentes. They also have sensivity to rhythm, pitch, meter, tone, melody or timbre.

How can EFL teachers develop the musical intelligence in the second language classroom?
- Using music on the classroom about the subject of the class or to relax students
- Students compose and sing songs about the subject matter.
- Dictations of musics


How to indentify Students with Musical Intelligence?

Some of them characterisctics are
- Show sensitivity to rhythm, melody, and sound
- May study with music in the background, play an instrument, notice non-verbal sounds in the environment.
- learn more easily if sung or tapped out.


According to the article "Multiple Intelligence Theory and Foreing Language Learning: A Brain-based Perspective" Written by Jane Arnold Morgan & M Carmen Fonseca, It can be affirmed that the development of musical intelligence in the second language classroom can have benefits such as helping students to concentrate and connect with their inner self, stimulating creative processes, cutting out the black noise, that is to say, eliminating distracting sounds from in or outside the classroom, and, above all, fostering a relaxed but motivating and productive classroom atmosphere.
